Storyline

Mother 3 is set on the Nowhere Islands years after EarthBound. The Pigmask Army, led by Porky Minch, invades and creates a police state, experimenting on flora and fauna. The story follows Lucas, a boy with psychic powers, his family and friends as they resist.
The game opens with twins Lucas and Claus and their mother Hinawa returning to Tazmily Village. A Pigmask attack burns the forest, Hinawa is killed defending them, and Claus leaves to seek revenge on a cyborg Drago. Flint, their father, fails to find him.
Three years later the village is modernized with railways and Happy Boxes. Lucas, his dog Boney, and allies Duster, Kumatora and the Magypsies learn about seven Needles hidden in the sleeping Dark Dragon. The Masked Man, later revealed as brain‑washed Claus, seeks the Needles for the Pigmask leader.
After pulling six Needles, the heroes confront Porky on the 100th floor of New Pork City’s Empire Porky Building. Porky seals himself in an Absolutely Safe Capsule, and Lucas obtains the final Needle, awakening the Dragon and destroying the islands. The cast survives and bids farewell.
