Storyline

Mother 1+2 on the Game Boy Advance kicks off with EarthBound Beginnings, where a young boy named Ninten inherits his great‑grandfather’s research on psychic powers. He uses these abilities to battle hostile, once‑inanimate objects and other strange foes, gradually gathering new friends while uncovering an alien conspiracy that threatens the world.

The second half, Mother 2 (commonly called EarthBound), opens when a meteor crashes near Ness’s hometown. After a police roadblock and a brief encounter with his neighbor Pokey Minch, Ness is drawn back to the crash site by Pokey’s frantic search for his brother Picky. The trio awakens Picky and meets Buzz Buzz, an insect from the future who warns them that the universal cosmic destroyer Giygas now dominates the planet. Buzz Buzz tasks Ness with traveling to eight sanctuaries to record their melodies, fuse his psychic power with Earth’s, and ultimately confront Giygas in a final showdown.
