Summary
Mother 1+2 bundles two classic RPGs originally known overseas as EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound. It lets players replay both stories on the Game Boy Advance.
The first installment follows Ninten, a twelve‑year‑old who wields PSI to gather eight mysterious melodies and halt mind‑controlling aliens bent on conquering Earth. The sequel switches to Ness and his friends, again chasing eight melodies to prevent an all‑powerful alien entity from drowning reality in perpetual darkness.
A notable GBA bonus in the original Mother is a hidden item that lets you ease the difficulty: random encounters drop dramatically and enemy statistics are softened, giving fans a more relaxed way to enjoy the quirky adventure.
Storyline
Mother 1+2 on the Game Boy Advance bundles the original Mother (EarthBound Beginnings) and Mother 2 (EarthBound) into one cartridge. The first half follows young Ninten, who applies his great‑grandfather’s research on psychic powers to battle hostile, once‑inanimate objects and other foes. Along the way he makes new friends and eventually uncovers an alien plot that must be stopped.
The sequel begins when Ness is awakened by a meteor that crashes near his home. After a police roadblock and a brief confrontation with his neighbor Pokey Minch, Ness, Pokey, and Pokey’s brother Picky are approached by an insect named Buzz Buzz, who claims to be from a future dominated by the universal cosmic destroyer Giygas. Buzz Buzz senses great potential in Ness and sends him on a quest to record the melodies of eight sanctuaries, unite his powers with the Earth’s, and gather the strength needed to confront Giygas.
