Play Morita Shogi Advance Online

Summary

I stumbled upon Morita Shogi Advance, a surprisingly deep shogi title that stayed exclusive to Japan’s Game Boy Advance library. The game sticks to the classic rules, even letting you drop captured pieces back onto the board—a hallmark that makes shogi feel so distinct from western chess. Its interface is clean, letting the ancient strategy unfold on a tiny handheld screen without any gimmicks. For anyone who’s ever wanted a portable taste of Japan’s most revered board game, this hidden gem delivers the full experience in a surprisingly accessible package.
