Summary
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror turns the usual Kirby formula on its head with a sprawling, Metroidvania‑style map that lets you wander through nine distinct themed zones in almost any order. The hub world houses the shattered Dimension Mirror, and each major boss guards a shard that you must reclaim before the final showdown. Along the way you’ll solve puzzles, battle sub‑bosses for rare copy abilities, and gather the usual health upgrades, extra lives, food, and even batteries for the in‑game cellphone.
Beyond the core adventure, the game sprinkles in a handful of quirky extras: music sheets unlock a sound test, spray paint lets you recolor Kirby, and three menu‑accessible minigames—Speed Eaters, Crackity Hack, and Kirby’s Wave Ride—offer both solo and multiplayer fun. New copy abilities like Cupid (Angel in Japan), Missile, and Smash expand Kirby’s toolkit, while the cellphone lets you summon friends or CPU allies for cooperative play.
Storyline
In the skies above Dream Land lies the Mirror World, a realm where any reflected wish becomes reality. When a mysterious figure’s mind is copied, the Mirror World twists into a dark reflection, prompting Meta Knight to investigate its potential threat.
During a stroll, Kirby is suddenly sliced by Dark Meta Knight into four differently‑colored copies. The quartet hops onto a Warp Star, chase their foe, and plunge into the Mirror World.
It is revealed that the two Meta Knights battled until the real Meta Knight was defeated and knocked into the Dimension Mirror. Dark Meta Knight shattered that mirror into eight fragments, scattering them across the Mirror World, and the four Kirbys set out to retrieve each piece to rescue Meta Knight and restore balance.
After gathering all fragments, Kirby enters the Dimension Mirror, defeats Dark Meta Knight, and claims Meta Knight’s Master Sword. Armed with the blade, he confronts Dark Mind several times, ultimately freeing the Mirror World. Shadow Kirby, the world’s counterpart, bids farewell as the four Kirbys exit, while Meta Knight drops his sword as a symbol of the realm’s protection.
