Summary

The Game Boy Advance version of Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron brings the quirky inventor’s world to a handheld with surprisingly sharp graphics that still get nods for standing out on the platform. It plays as a third‑person 3D adventure where I spend most of my time guiding Jimmy through puzzle‑heavy stages, hunting down items and figuring out how to bypass obstacles. Along the way, the game throws in enemies that must be dodged or taken on in occasional boss battles, keeping the pacing lively. Critics gave it a mixed reception, landing a 55/100 on Metacritic, but most agreed the visual presentation was a highlight. For anyone who loved the TV show’s blend of science‑fiction hijinks and brain‑teasing challenges, this GBA title captures that spirit in a compact, portable package.

Storyline

The game opens in the Retroville museum where Mrs. Fowl leads a dull tour and a bored Jimmy Neutron sighs, “Can’t anything ever be different?!” Meanwhile, in a mirror‑dimension, the evil Jimmy Negatron plots to conquer Jimmy’s world, hiding his robot sidekick Hermin in a broom closet. Jimmy builds a time machine to impress Cindy, but when he activates it with Goddard aboard, the duo are whisked into cages inside Negatron’s underwater lair, where the villain reveals his plan to take over Retroville and tricks Cindy into drinking the dangerous Black Flurp.

Escaping the lair, Jimmy frees himself and Goddard by out‑witting Hermin, then chases Negatron through a booby‑trapped portal that drops him into a soon‑to‑flood ravine. After navigating a wharf warehouse and constructing a submarine, Jimmy pilots through an underwater maze back to Negatron’s lab, repairs the portal and returns to Retroville, only to find Hermin declaring himself “The Herminator” and following him through the gateway.

Back at the museum, Negatron has swapped the exhibit’s AI, Vox, with his own NegaVox. Jimmy restores Vox’s backup, scans the town for infections, and dives inside Vox in a bug‑sprayer vehicle, blasting computer bugs, rescuing Vox and Libby, and repairing a corrupted clubhouse system. Vox warns that Negatron used the time machine to rewrite history, so Jimmy hops through Halloween, winter and Independence Day versions of Retroville, battling the villain and restoring the proper timeline.

Negatron then enlarges Carl with Black Flurp, prompting Jimmy to build a food‑launcher and feed Carl back to normal. The evil mastermind traps Mrs. Fowl in an Egyptian sarcophagus, forces Judy and Hugh into tombs, and hides a secret crate of Black Flurp in the garage. Jimmy solves color puzzles, rolling‑boulder traps, water and pendulum challenges to free his parents, locate Negatron’s factory, and destroy the Black Flurp production line, finally hurling Negatron into a vat of Purple Flurp.

In the game’s climax, Negatron animates museum dinosaurs to rampage, but Jimmy short‑circuits them with water‑balloon rockets. A final teleport‑trap leaves Negatron stuck in a cage beside the Neutron mailbox, ending the showdown in Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron.
