Summary

The GBA adaptation of Ice Age 2: The Meltdown squeezes the film’s chaos into a compact, hand‑held platformer. You flip between Sid, Manny and Diego to solve six puzzle‑styled stages, while a separate "Scrat Rush" segment has you racing to snag acorns. The controls feel tight enough for younger gamers, and the sprite work captures the movie’s cartoon vibe despite the system’s limits. Reviews called it a solid kid‑friendly title but noted its brevity, and the whole Ice Age 2 franchise eventually moved roughly two million units worldwide. For a 2006 portable release, it offers a nostalgic blend of light puzzle solving and fast‑paced mini‑games that still feel charming on the GBA’s modest screen.

Storyline

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown on the Game Boy Advance follows the film’s plot, putting players in the hooves of Manny the woolly mammoth as he, Sid, Diego and the herd race to escape a massive flood threatening their valley. The level design mirrors the movie’s key locations, from the melting ice caves to the treacherous river rapids, and each stage challenges the player with platforming obstacles and timed puzzles.

Scrat also gets his own side‑scrolling misadventures, constantly chasing the elusive acorn while dodging traps and hostile wildlife. His segments serve as comic relief and break up the main quest, keeping the gameplay varied and true to the franchise’s humor.
