Summary
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town drops you onto a modest farm with a handful of tools and a puppy that will grow into a full‑size dog after two months. You clear the large field, plant crops, mine ore, and forage to earn the cash needed for livestock, upgrades, and new equipment. Every harvest can be shipped for profit, turning simple vegetables and animal products into the money that fuels expansion. The town’s residents are as much a part of the game as the soil; befriending them unlocks recipes, backstories, and six eligible bachelorettes you can court and eventually marry, gaining a son along the way. Barley may drop by with a young horse, and if you nurture it with enough affection he’ll return a year later, though neglect can see it taken back. Cows, chickens, and sheep each provide milk, eggs, or wool, which you can shear or milk and then ship. A link cable lets you connect this GBA title to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life on the GameCube, opening extra events and surprises that reward cooperative play. The game’s blend of farming, animal care, and social interaction has made it a standout entry for English‑speaking fans of the series.
Storyline
In Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town the protagonist begins as an unnamed city boy whose parents take him on a countryside trip. While exploring, he gets lost and stumbles upon an old man’s farm in Mineral Town, where the farmer helps him contact his parents and offers the family a place to stay, noting he has no relatives of his own. The boy’s parents agree, and during the short stay he befriends a local girl, forming a lasting connection.
After returning home, the boy continues to write letters to the old man, but one day the correspondence abruptly ends. Years later, now grown, he receives news that the farmer has passed away about six months earlier, and the once‑thriving farm lies neglected. The mayor informs him that the deceased left the farm to him in his will.
Motivated by nostalgia and the promise of a new beginning, the player decides to restore the farm, launching the main gameplay of Friends of Mineral Town.
