Summary

Guilty Gear X: Advance Edition translates the frantic arcade fighter onto the Game Boy Advance, introducing tag‑team and 3‑on‑3 modes that let you swap between two or three characters on the fly. You can also dig into a dedicated survival mode, a training arena, and a flexible 3‑ or 4‑button control scheme, while the 3‑mode character selection from the X Plus update returns for extra customization, even letting you recolor every combatant.

The roster mirrors the arcade original save for Robo‑Ky, though Ky’s “extra” version borrows Robo‑Ky’s beta moveset, and players can tweak colors without inheriting the X Plus’s special black or gold selects. Critics found the handheld port the weakest entry in the series, lambasting its easy AI and wash‑out, watercolor‑like backgrounds with tiny sprites, yet they also praised the uniquely designed fighters, solid character balance and, for some, surprisingly crisp sound effects amid mixed opinions on the music and announcer voice.

Storyline

In the year 2181, a few months after the original Guilty Gear events, rumors spread about a newly discovered commander Gear. The Holy Knights Tournament is revived, offering 500,000 World Dollars to anyone who captures or kills Dizzy. During the clash, Sol Badguy defeats her but spares her life, recognizing she poses no threat. Ky Kiske, now UN police chief and former Sacred Order leader, finds Dizzy and hands her over to Johnny and May of the Jellyfish Air Pirates, who gladly take her in. Meanwhile, bounty‑hunter‑chef Jam Kuradoberi claims she captured Dizzy to claim the prize and fund her restaurant. All of this unfolds in Guilty Gear X: Advance Edition, the Game Boy Advance port of the classic fighting series.
