Summary

The Game Boy Advance port of Earthworm Jim 2 takes the original’s off‑the‑wall run‑and‑gun formula and crams it into ten wildly varied stages. You’ll still be whipping, jumping and swinging on Snott, but now you can also fire the auto‑aiming gun, blast foes with the Barn Blaster, or munch a chip‑butty to push your suit power up to 200 percent. Levels flip between classic side‑scrollers, a blind‑cave salamander disguise quiz, an inflated‑head balloon gauntlet, and even an isometric pocket‑rocket shooter that feels like a mini‑racing obstacle course. Familiar faces such as Princess What’s‑Her‑Name, Psy‑Crow, Peter Puppy and Bob the Goldfish pop up alongside fresh villains, keeping the cast as eccentric as the level design. Unfortunately, the GBA version inherits the SNES layout but suffers from grainy graphics, tinny sound, repetitive music and occasional glitches that can make the platforming feel less smooth than the original.

Storyline

Earthworm Jim 2 on the Game Boy Advance sends Jim on a galaxy‑wide chase to rescue Princess What’s‑Her‑Name from the villain Psy‑Crow. Along the way he must pull off oddball tricks – he can masquerade as a blind cave salamander, puff his head up like a balloon, and even face Major Mucus in a quirky isometric shooter segment. The climax is a frantic race through the obstacle‑filled level “See Jim Run Run Jim Run,” where Jim finally saves the Princess. In a tongue‑in‑cheek twist the three heroes turn out to be cows in disguise, echoing the game’s overall madcap quest of saving cows and thwarting lawyers across the galaxy.
