Summary

Custom Robo GX brings the series' RPG‑hybrid feel to the GBA, but the hardware forces a shift to 2‑D zero‑gravity arenas. Players still outfit their Robo with body, gun, bomb, pod and feet parts, and the familiar auto‑aim and fire modes carry over.

Battles unfold on a side‑scroll plane where obstacles can be dodged with dash moves, and the camera zooms dynamically based on distance. An exclusive Action‑Chip lets you generate an extra shield or expand maneuver options, adding a fresh tactical layer.

After a Robo is launched from the Robocannon, a random ready‑time replaces the cube‑side mechanic of later titles. An endurance bar sits above the HP gauge; when it empties the Robo is downed, then briefly invincible on rebirth.

The game was slated for a U.S. launch but Nintendo opted for the GameCube sequel instead, leaving this version Japan‑only. Famitsu gave it a solid 30/40, reflecting its polished adaptation despite the hardware limits.
