Play Cars Mater-National Championship Online

Summary

Cars Mater-National Championship lands on the Game Boy Advance as a faithful handheld port of the high‑octane sequel to the original Cars tie‑in game. The title squeezes the vibrant world of Radiator Springs into a 2‑D format, letting players zip around familiar locales with the same sense of speed the console versions promised.

The GBA version introduces a roster of fresh, international racers who all line up for the First Annual Mater‑National Race Festival, each hoping to out‑shine Lightning McQueen on the track. The game’s charm comes from these quirky opponents and the way they expand the film’s universe beyond the core cast.

Critically, the handheld entry earned a mixed‑to‑positive reception, landing an aggregate score of 66 % and a 5/10 from Eurogamer. While not a blockbuster hit, it offered a solid portable racing experience that kept fans engaged until the series moved on to Cars Race‑O‑Rama in 2009.

Storyline

Cars Mater-National Championship takes place after the events of its predecessor and centers on the inaugural Mater‑National Tournament. Lightning McQueen and his buddy Mater host the competition in Radiator Springs, where the player steers McQueen through races against rivals from around the globe while also managing the construction of his racing headquarters and the ambitious new stadium. The roster mixes familiar faces with newcomers hailing from Germany, Italy, England, Sweden and Japan. The game’s world is divided into three hub areas—Radiator Springs, Ornament Valley and Tailfin Pass—each redesigned from the earlier title. Some sections of these hubs remain locked and can only be reached during race events.
