Summary
Bionicle: Maze of Shadows drops you into a top‑down, action‑adventure trek across six distinct stages inside the titular underground labyrinth. You command the six Toa Metru, each endowed with a unique skill that’s essential for solving the Maze’s traps, puzzles and skirmishes against hostile Rahi. The narrative is borrowed from the Bionicle novel of the same name, tasking the heroes with reviving the sleeping Matoran while evading the vicious Karzhahni who have taken them captive. In addition to the single‑player campaign, the GBA title throws in multiplayer mini‑games that let friends compete using the Toa’s special abilities. Released in March 2005 for the Game Boy Advance by THQ and developed by Razorback, the game captures the LEGO Bionicle vibe while delivering a compact, skill‑based challenge for fans of the series.
Storyline
Bionicle: Maze of Shadows follows the events of the book Maze of Shadows, thrusting you into the underworld of Mata Nui as a member of the Toa Metru. While navigating the dark tunnels, you must battle hostile Rahi and gradually unlock new powers that reflect the Metru’s evolving abilities. A key mission involves delivering energized protodermis to the Karzahni plant, a crucial step to aid the injured Nokama. You also search for a rare healing root, the only thing that can save Nokama from a fatal wound. The game mixes canon elements from the Bionicle lore with original twists, making it a semi‑canonical entry in the handheld series.
