Summary

Barbie: The Princess and the Pauper on the Game Boy Advance turns the beloved film into a bright platform‑puzzle romp that spans 20 distinct stages. You can control the two heroines—Anneliese, the castle‑bound princess, and Erika, the street‑wise town girl—each with her own moves, and even swap in the royal pets Wolfie and Serafina for bonus challenges. The game mixes classic jump‑and‑run sections with mind‑bending puzzles, and it throws in two‑player minigames that let friends compete head‑to‑head. While you’re racing through secret passages and royal chambers, the core objective mirrors the movie’s conflict: stopping the scheming Preminger from seizing the kingdom through a forced marriage of Anneliese. The bright, cartoon‑style visuals and simple controls make it a friendly entry point for younger players while still offering enough variety to keep seasoned platform fans engaged.

Storyline

In Barbie: The Princess and the Pauper for Game Boy Advance, a kingdom is torn between a blonde princess, Anneliese, and a brunette pauper, Erika, who are born on the same day. Anneliese is promised to the wealthy King Dominick to rescue the treasury, while she secretly loves her tutor Julian. Erika works as an indentured seamstress at Madame Carp’s Dress Emporium and dreams of becoming a singer.

The royal adviser Preminger has been stealing gold and plots to make Anneliese disappear, hoping to marry her and claim the throne. When Anneliese is kidnapped, Julian convinces Erika to impersonate the princess, keeping engagement alive while they investigate. As Erika and Dominick fall in love, the princess is imprisoned in the mines with Julian, and Preminger’s henchmen Nick and Nack try to seal their fate.

Erika escapes by singing a lullaby that puts a guard to sleep, retrieves the keys, and helps free Anneliese and Julian. The birthmark on Anneliese’s shoulder proves her identity at Preminger’s forced wedding, leading to his arrest and kingdom’s restoration thanks to geodes. In the end, Anneliese marries Julian, Erika follows her dream of singing before returning to wed Dominick, and two couples ride off together.
