Summary
Avatar: The Legend of Aang (known as Avatar: The Last Airbender in Europe) brings the world of the animated series to the Game Boy Advance in a compact action‑adventure package. The handheld format lets you jump between four playable heroes—Aang, Katara, Haru, and Sokka—each wielding their signature weapon and fighting style, from Aang’s airbending staff to Sokka’s boomerang. As you defeat foes, experience points unlock new special abilities, letting the characters evolve throughout the quest.
The game rewards exploration with a variety of items: armor boosts defense, chi restores bending power, enchanted accessories grant temporary buffs, and healing potions keep you in the fight. Collected resources can be taken to artisans to craft unique gear, adding a light‑hearted crafting loop. Enemies range from classic firebenders and steam‑powered machines to the familiar animal companions of Book 1, keeping each encounter fresh and true to the series’ spirit.
Storyline
Avatar: The Legend of Aang (Sir VG) delivers an original story that slots neatly between Book 1 and Book 2 of the TV series. While training at the Northern Water Tribe, Aang and Katara pick up rumors of a missing waterbender named Hiryu and set out to investigate. Their search is interrupted when a Fire Nation ship, commanded by Prince Zuko, attacks the tribe and captures Katara.
Aang and Sokka chase the vessel, only to be slowed by a strange fire‑bending machine. The trail leads them to an Earth Kingdom port, a jail where they free Katara, and a map pointing to a village under siege by the same machines. After rescuing Haru and learning that his friend Yuan has been kidnapped, the team consults the Omashu library and discovers an uncharted island where Lian the Maker is forced to build the war machines.
On the island Lian reveals her fear that Aang won’t master all four elements before Sozin’s comet. Refusing her aid, Aang battles the machines, eventually confronting Lian in a fortress. After a chaotic showdown that sees Prince Zuko knocked over a cliff, Aang enters the Avatar State, shatters the final machine and buries Lian beneath the rubble—though she survives in the portable versions of the game. The heroes escape as a defeated Zuko crawls away, grumbling about his failure to capture the Avatar.
