Summary
Animaniacs: Hollywood Hypnotics was a 2D platformer slated for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, but it vanished before ever hitting shelves. Full Fat Games handled the development while SWING Entertainment was set to publish, until the company entered insolvency on February 11 2003 and the title lost its backing. The project was being built alongside Hollywood Hijinx—later renamed The Great Edgar Hunt—but unlike its sibling, Hypnotics never found a new publisher after SWING folded. For years it lived only in rumors, classified as lost media, until the prototype surfaced on June 29 2025 courtesy of the preservation group Hidden Palace. Seeing that build finally surface gave me a glimpse of what could have been, and it’s a fascinating footnote in the Animaniacs gaming legacy.
Storyline
In Animaniacs: Hollywood Hypnotics, Pinky and The Brain rig hidden speakers that emit eerie sounds, forcing anyone who hears them to believe they are constantly filming movies. Their ultimate plan is to convert the Warner Bros. Water Tower into a rocket that will launch a satellite broadcasting loud barking noises to disrupt the planet’s population. Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are the only three immune to the mind‑controlling audio, and they set out to locate and destroy the hidden speakers. Their mission pits the mischievous trio against the scheming duo in a race to stop the bizarre broadcast before the satellite is launched.
