Summary

Tantei Jinguuji Saburou - Kiken na Futari - Zenpen, the third entry in the Jinguuji Saburo detective series (known abroad as Jake Hunter), first appeared on Japan’s Famicom Disk System on December 9, 1988. The title arrived as a two‑disk set, with the second disk hitting shelves a few months after the initial launch, a common practice for expanding narrative adventures on the Disk System.

Years later the game resurfaced outside Japan as part of the Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles DS collection, where it was repackaged under the more market‑friendly name Jake Hunter: Crash and Burn. This compilation gave English‑speaking players a chance to experience the early cases of the hard‑boiled sleuth, preserving the original’s puzzle‑heavy gameplay while updating the presentation for modern handhelds.

Storyline

In Tantei Jinguuji Saburou - Kiken na Futari - Zenpen (often referred to simply as Detective Jinguuji Saburo), the titular detective is invited by one of Yōko’s friends to a high‑speed motorcycle race circuit. While the event is in full swing, a racer crashes spectacularly, and officials rush to the wreckage expecting to recover the victim’s body. The twist comes when the corpse pulled from the mangled bike turns out to belong to a completely different competitor, throwing the whole incident into suspicion. Detective Jinguuji must untangle the sudden death, questioning witnesses and piecing together clues amid the roar of engines. The story hinges on this body‑swap mystery, driving the player to uncover who really died and why.
