Summary

Metroid’s original Famicom Disk System incarnation feels like a hidden gem that only Japanese players ever got to explore. The disk‑based hardware gave the game a genuine save system, smoother scrolling and a richer soundtrack that still holds up today. Compared with the later international cartridge, this version skips the infamous second quest entirely, so you never unlock the extra challenge after beating the game. It also omits the alternate Justin Bailey Samus skin, keeping the focus on the classic bounty‑hunter look. On top of that, the FDS build is noticeably more forgiving – enemies hit harder and the end‑game requirements are less demanding, making the adventure feel a touch more accessible.
