Summary
DoReMikko is a Konami music title for the Famicom Disk System that arrived with a 36‑key electronic keyboard, making it the priciest Disk System release of its day. The peripheral plugs directly into the console, turning the whole setup into a tiny home studio rather than a typical cartridge‑only experience.
The game offers three distinct play styles. In Magic Forest you work through four preset pieces—Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells, Les Patineurs, and a Gradius theme—learning each melody on a single‑note instrument palette of fourteen sounds. Piano mode opens up free‑form improvisation with just piano or electric organ, while Concert mode expands the palette back to all fourteen instruments and lets you layer up to six tracks, complete with a guitarist, bassist and drummer avatar on a virtual stage.
Both Piano and Concert feature a recording studio screen that mimics a mixing desk, letting you adjust volume faders, add backing rhythms (country, reggae, rock, etc.) and save your compositions to floppy disk. The keyboard handles three octaves, while the D‑pad shifts octaves and shapes envelopes, and the A button provides pitch‑bending, giving the player a surprisingly expressive toolkit for a 1987 console game.
