Summary

Dead Zone drops you into a bleak, over‑populated future where humanity has fled Earth for sprawling space colonies. You play as Kirk, a space‑physics engineer stationed at the Sirius colony, navigating a deserted space station that feels more like an underground graveyard of broken machines. The game’s visual style is a static, comic‑book‑like tableau that fills most of the screen, while a simple text menu at the bottom lets you choose actions such as “see,” “take,” or “push.”

Everything is presented in katakana‑only Japanese, but the interface is intuitive enough that the focus shifts to atmosphere rather than translation. A standout feature for a 1986 Famicom Disk System title is its use of real sampled sound effects, giving the silent, metallic corridors an unexpectedly vivid acoustic texture.
