Summary

Todd's Adventures in Slime World (often just called Slime World) is a quirky side‑scrolling adventure that feels part platformer, part puzzle box. You start with a water pistol that can be angled, cling to walls and launch you in high, long jumps, while shields and water pools wipe out damage – but a spray of red slime from certain foes can kill you instantly, and hidden snappers lurk unseen until stepped on.

The game is split into seven distinct variations, each tweaking the core rules. Easy is a gentle intro, Exploration floods the map with secret passages, Action piles on enemies, Logic strips the water gun and forces you to dodge or use mega‑bombs, Suspense adds a ticking clock that mushrooms can extend, Combat pits up to five players against each other with slime guns and destructive bombs, and Arcade removes checkpoint arrows entirely, demanding a flawless run.

Multiplayer was a headline feature: the Lynx’s Comlynx could link eight consoles, making it the first eight‑player title on the system. A hidden "Zit popping" Easter egg lets you grow and burst a slime bubble by mashing A. Critics praised its originality – scores ranged from 4/5 at AllGame to 92% at Raze – calling it a "wonderfully gross" and "superb exploration" experience.

Storyline

Todd is a galactic explorer who, while cruising the Andromeda sector, stumbled upon an abandoned starship and managed to download part of its captain’s log. The recovered log details a bizarre planet called Slime World, a place overflowing with disgusting life forms and hidden slime gems of great value. In the game Todd’s Adventures in Slime World (often just called Todd’s Adventures), you take control of Todd as he ventures deep into this goo‑filled, drippy landscape, hunting the precious gems while navigating the planet’s unsettling inhabitants.
