Play Super Asteroids & Missile Command Online

Summary

Super Asteroids & Missile Command is a quirky Lynx cartridge that fuses two arcade legends into one handheld experience. It arrived as Atari’s swan song for the Lynx, a rare title that only saw release in North America and Europe before the company turned its focus to other consoles. The game upgrades the original visuals and audio, giving the classic space‑shoot‑‘em‑up feel a crisp, portable polish.

In the Asteroids half, you’re thrust into an endless field of drifting debris and hostile UFOs, tasked with blasting everything to bits while hunting down power‑ups that boost your firepower. The action never stops, and each wave feels like a fresh test of reflexes and strategy.

Switch to Missile Command and the perspective flips: you must protect a cluster of space colonies from a barrage of missiles, satellites, and enemy fighters. Between waves, intermission screens let you spend collected credits on stronger missiles and upgraded defenses, adding a light layer of resource management to the frantic defense.

Storyline

Super Asteroids & Missile Command tasks the player with defending humanity’s fledgling space colonies. Waves of alien debris, hostile UFOs, incoming missiles, rogue satellites and enemy fighters constantly threaten the outposts. Using the Lynx’s dual‑stick controls, you must shoot down each hazard before it reaches the colonies. Survival depends on quick reflexes and strategic targeting of the most dangerous threats.
