Summary

Road Riot 4WD never made it off the prototype stage for the Atari Lynx, but the concept still shines through in the surviving details. The game puts you behind a four‑wheel‑drive dune buggy armed with an endless supply of missiles, turning every desert sprint into a chaotic shoot‑out. You race through eleven wildly varied locales—Saudi Arabia, Iowa, the African savanna, the Swiss Alps, Baja Mexico, Antarctica, Ohio, Las Vegas, New Jersey, California, and Australia—each track littered with obstacles that can be smashed for extra points. A single race pits you against three AI opponents, and the two‑player mode lets a friend join the mayhem for head‑to‑head destruction. Finish all eleven courses and the game rewards you with a hefty 500,000‑point score, a fitting bragging right for anyone who ever dreamed of mastering this cancelled Tengen title.
