Summary

Joust on the Atari Lynx captures the frantic aerial combat of the arcade classic in a handheld format. You steer a yellow knight perched on a flapping ostrich with a two‑way joystick for direction and a button that controls wing beats, letting you rise, hover, or descend at will. The screen is a single arena of floating platforms over lava, and when you fly off one edge you reappear on the opposite side, keeping the action continuous.

Enemy knights arrive in waves, each riding a buzzard and marked by distinct colors that signal their point value. Bounders drift aimlessly, Hunters chase you down, and the fast‑moving Shadow Lords hover near the top, trying to out‑joust you with higher lances. A pterodactyl swoops in after a set time, vulnerable only when its mouth opens, while an indestructible Lava Troll drags any low‑flying rider into the molten abyss.

Defeated foes turn into eggs that fall to the bottom; catching them nets extra points, but if you miss, the egg hatches into a fresh opponent. A second player can join as a blue knight on a stork, cooperating—or occasionally clashing—with you as you both battle the relentless waves.
