Summary

Sport Goofy (sometimes just called Goofy) is an unreleased Atari 5200 prototype that turns the wacky Disney cartoon into two quirky challenges. In the Marathon Dive, you guide Goofy up a stack of moving platforms while armored tanks chase him; the tanks can’t jump or use ladders, so you can dodge them by leaping over or luring them into holes that drop them a level. Reaching the diving platform triggers a brief mid‑air run before you must land on a jittery floating platform that slides erratically beneath you. The second event, Pogo Pop, has Goofy bouncing on a pogo stick across a grid of tiles; each successful hop makes the tile disappear, so you must constantly adjust your rhythm to avoid falling through. Colored Mickey balloons drift overhead, and popping them rewards extra points. Both modes grow tougher as tanks speed up, platforms gain more gaps, and tiles vanish faster, creating a frantic yet charming test of timing.

Storyline

In Sport Goofy (sometimes just Goofy Sports), you play as the lanky Disney character in a wacky Olympic‑style competition. The game features two absurd events: the Marathon Dive and the Pogo Pop.

In the Marathon Dive you must steer Goofy down toward a floating platform. If you land correctly, his parachute opens just a second too late, sending him crashing into the platform in classic cartoon fashion. Missing the target sends him plummeting into the water, where he drowns because, apparently, Goofy can’t swim.

The Pogo Pop works similarly, requiring precise timing to bounce onto the target before the parachute fails. Failure again results in a splashy demise.
