Miniature Golf is an unreleased prototype for the Atari 5200, crafted by programmer Steve Baker. Though never officially launched, the game is fully playable and surprisingly polished, especially given its reliance on the console’s Hi‑Res mode, which leads to some quirky color choices. All the action is handled via the keypad, so the 5200’s non‑centering joystick never gets in the way. Pressing the # and * keys rotates the direction arrow that shows where the ball will be struck, while the numeric keys 1 through 9 set the swing’s power—from a gentle tap at 1 to a full‑force hit at 9. The result is a surprisingly faithful miniature‑golf simulation that feels right at home on the Atari 5200.
