Summary

Playing Gremlins on the Atari 5200 feels like a frantic night‑shift as Billy, viewed from a comfortable 3‑person angle. I’m constantly darting around the screen, scooping up every Mogwai and whisking them back to the cage perched in the upper‑right corner, while also slashing at the mischievous gremlins with a sword.
Each round races against a sunrise clock; when the hands hit 6:00 am the level ends, but I can earn extra points by actually completing the capture and extermination tasks before the sun peeks over. Returning a Mogwai to its cage nets a nice bonus, and surviving the full six minutes still yields a respectable score.
Scattered snacks add chaos – a hungry Mogwai that munches on food instantly mutates into a gremlin, and stray puddles can split any creature into two. Occasionally a refrigerator, popcorn machine, or a blaring TV will hurl food onto the playfield or distract the gremlins, turning the arena into a slap‑stick kitchen.
I start with a handful of flash cubes; when the swarm overwhelms me, a quick press flashes a stun field that freezes every gremlin and Mogwai for a breath. As the stages climb, the pace quickens and the critters multiply, demanding sharper reflexes and smarter use of those precious cubes.

Storyline

Gremlins (Atari 5200) drops you into Billy's living room just after midnight. The clock strikes twelve and the chaos begins.

Both Mogwai and their gremlin offspring run rampant through the room, turning the quiet space into a frantic scramble.
