Playing Gorf feels like stepping through a mini‑arcade anthology. The opening stage drops you behind a glowing defensive shield in a top‑down arena, where you blast rows of alien ships that march across the screen. In the second round the shield disappears, the enemies swoop in tighter formations and bonus ships pop up, turning the fight into a frantic dogfight.
The third level flips the perspective entirely: you’re thrust into hyperspace, the view shifting to a behind‑the‑ship angle as you barrel forward, dodging circular formations of hostile vessels that try to halt your journey. Survival is the only objective here, and the sense of speed is intoxicating.
The finale returns to the top‑down layout but pits you against a single, massive mothership. Its glowing weak spot can be destroyed in one hit, while its own shield mirrors the one you used at the start, making the final showdown a satisfying bookend to the experience.
