Berzerk throws you into a maze of glowing, electrified walls that pulse with each new screen. I steer my character with the joystick, pointing in any of eight directions, and pull the trigger button to unleash a laser blast at the hostile Automazeons. The robots react quickly, but the layout gives me room to maneuver and plan my escape.
A satisfying trick I’ve discovered is to herd the Automazeons into the very walls that confine us, watching them fry on contact. Even better, I can bait them into firing at each other, turning their own shots into a deadly surprise. The combination of precise directional control and these tactical options keeps the frantic action fresh screen after screen.
In BerZerk for the Atari 5200, a routine space‑exploration mission goes catastrophically wrong, leaving you stranded on the hostile world of Mazeon. The planet’s robotic inhabitants immediately turn hostile, hunting you down at every turn.
Your only option is to survive by battling wave after wave of relentless robots while navigating seemingly endless, maze‑like corridors. Each level is a new labyrinthine challenge, forcing you to keep moving and keep fighting.
