Summary

Wizard Fire is a 1992 arcade beat‑‘em‑up that mixes isometric RPG elements with side‑scrolling combat. Although it was released in the US as Wizard Fire, Data East still archives it under the subtitle Gate of Doom II, while Japanese fans know it as Dark Seal II.

Players pick from five archetypes—wizard, bard, knight, elf or dwarf—each with its own basic attack, magic options and a passive quirk: the wizard deals the most magic damage, the bard resists poison, the knight avoids disease, the elf moves faster, and the dwarf is safe from confusion. Magic isn’t class‑locked, though certain characters are more likely to cast particular spells, and any non‑wizard spell can occasionally fail, briefly turning the hero into a pig.

The game supports two‑player co‑op, letting partners hunt down monsters, dodge traps and loot spells together. In June 1992 it ranked ninth among Japanese table‑type arcade units, a solid showing for a title that never fully broke into the Western market.
