Super Xevious keeps the classic vertical‑scroll shooter feel of the original, putting you behind the Solvalou starship equipped with an air‑zap shot for airborne foes and a blaster bomb for ground targets. The core loop of dodging swarms and bombing hidden installations feels instantly familiar, yet the game pushes you harder with faster projectiles and more aggressive patterns.

A handful of new enemies spice things up: a gleaming silver Galaxian flagship, two sleek jet planes, a low‑flying helicopter, and a dark yellow tank battalion. Strangely, destroying the tank, helicopter or one of the jets wipes your score clean, while simply flying over the tank nets a hefty 10,000‑point bonus.

Scattered across the scrolling landscape are the hidden Sol Citadels – silvery towers that flash red on your targeting reticle. Drop a bomb to reveal the structure for 1,000 points, then bomb it again for another thousand. Four Rally‑X‑style special flags also hide in the level; passing over one grants an extra life, though the sight never flashes.

Technically, Super Xevious runs on the Namco Galaga arcade board, driven by three Z80 microprocessors and a three‑channel PSG for sound. It was sold as a conversion kit for existing Xevious cabinets, making the upgrade seamless for arcade operators.

Storyline
