Summary
Sunset Riders hits the arcade with a flashy Wild West aesthetic, letting up to four friends team up as bounty hunters armed with revolvers, a rifle, and a shotgun. The eight‑way joystick controls both movement and aiming while two buttons handle shooting and jumping, and players can hop between floor levels or slide under fire. Stages alternate between on‑foot gunfights, horse‑riding chase sections and even a moving train, each ending with a distinctive boss. Power‑ups such as a gold sheriff’s badge for full‑auto fire and a silver badge that adds a second gun can be stacked, and the game throws in dynamite, dropped barrels and a final Gatling gun for extra chaos. After the eighth round the circuit restarts at higher difficulty, and the arcade’s credit‑continue system offers a chance to keep the showdown going.
Storyline
Sunset Riders, the classic arcade shooter, drops players into a colorful, fanciful version of the American Old West. You control one of four bounty hunters—Steve, Billy, Bob, or Cormano—each chasing the biggest bounties on the frontier. At the start of every stage a wanted poster flashes on screen, announcing the outlaw you must track down.
The level plays out as a side‑scrolling ride through dusty towns, canyons and deserts, with enemies popping up along the way. When you reach the end, the outlaw from the poster appears as a tough boss to defeat for the reward. Clearing the boss advances you to the next wanted poster and another showdown.
