Summary

Sorcer Striker (sometimes called Mahou Daisakusen) launches you into a fantasy‑fueled vertical shoot ’em up that feels like a magical upgrade to classic shooters such as Seirei Senshi Spriggan. You choose from four pilots, each commanding a ship with a chargeable main cannon and a selectable magic‑book subweapon that cycles between homing, spread, and straight shots, while bomb attacks clear anything in their blast radius. The game’s hallmark is its instant‑respawn system – when you die you reappear at the same spot, albeit with weapons reset – and a looping stage design that forces you to replay the first level to uncover the true ending.
Developed by the four‑person team at Raizing (now Eighting), Sorcer Striker marks the studio’s debut and runs on a Toaplan‑licensed board. It debuted in Japanese and European arcades in May 1993, where *Game Machine* listed it as the seventh most‑popular arcade title in August of that year, solidifying its cult reputation among shoot‑em‑up enthusiasts.

Storyline

In Sorcer Striker (also known simply as Sorcer) players take the role of one of four bounty hunters tasked with ending the Goblin empire. The empire is ruled by King Gobligan, who has built a massive army using mana‑based magical weapons. King Codwenna of the Violent Kingdom, fearing his realm’s doom, gathers his knights and places a bounty on Gobligan’s head, hoping a hero will finish the job. The hunters must battle through goblin forces, uncover the secret of the mana weapons, and ultimately confront the goblin king to claim the reward. Success restores peace to Codwenna’s kingdom and ends the goblin threat.
