Summary

Section Z is a side‑view shoot‑em‑up where you pilot a red jet‑packed spaceman through a massive enemy space station divided into alphabetic corridors. The corridors, labeled A through Z, scroll either horizontally or vertically; after each boss the scrolling direction flips, giving a fresh feel as you progress from Section A to the final showdown at Z. You fire a laser left or right with one button and can drop grenades with the same press, while a turn button lets you face the opposite direction; destroying dome‑shaped containers drops B, S or P icons for bonus points, speed boost or weapon power‑up. The arcade original resurfaced on several compilations – Capcom Classics Collection for PS2 and Xbox, the PSP remix, and the modern Capcom Arcade Cabinet – and a home version appeared on the NES, letting a new generation experience the alphabet‑runner.

Storyline

In Section‑Z (often just called Section Z), the action takes place sometime in the third millennium. You assume the role of an astronaut sent to a space station that orbits close to Earth. The station isn’t a civilian outpost at all – it’s the secret base of the alien empire called the Balangool. Your objective is to infiltrate the facility and bring it down, ending the hidden threat before it can strike.
