Summary

Pink Sweets: Ibara Sorekara, often just called Pink Sweets, is Cave’s 2006 vertical manic shooter that picks up where Ibara left off. The game lets you hop into the five stage‑bosses from the original as fully playable pilots, each equipped with a quirky barrier‑and‑shot system that feels both familiar and fresh. Enemies are whimsically named after food items, and the on‑screen heroines pepper the action with yelps and catchy phrases, giving the frantic bullet‑hell a surprisingly light‑hearted vibe. Early arcade cabinets hid a notorious glitch: collect six extra ships and the reserve counter never drops below two, effectively granting infinite lives—without it, the title ranks among the toughest shooters around. Veteran programmer Shinobu Yagawa, known for Recca, Battle Garegga and the first Ibara, steered the project, and the arcade debut landed on April 21, 2006. Famitsu’s four reviewers each gave it a modest six, totaling a 24/40 score, reflecting its niche appeal despite the polished chaos.

Storyline

In Pink Sweets, the story takes a surprising turn: the sixth and final Guardian of Ibara survives, and none of the Rose sisters meet their end. Instead, they all abandon the darkness and embrace the light.
