Summary
Neo Drift Out delivers an arcade‑style rally experience viewed from a tight isometric angle. I start each run by picking one of three Japanese rally legends—the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza or Toyota Celica—each trading speed for control or body strength. Six locations await beyond the practice stage: European, African, Snow Land, Southern Hemisphere, Scandinavian and Great Britain, all littered with barrels, puddles, ice, cones and rival cars that force me to stay perfectly aligned on slopes or risk a tumble.
Checkpoints reward extra seconds, and the game teases shortcuts that scream for a daring cut‑through. Before every turn a spoken cue warns me which way to go, keeping the frantic pace both intuitive and hard‑to‑master. Two‑player races keep the competition alive, and critics have praised the smooth handling, challenging alternate routes, and the improved graphics over earlier entries. It’s frequently cited among Neo Geo’s top titles by both HobbyConsolas and Time Extension.
