Summary

Neo Bomberman drops you into a series of maze‑like stages where monsters swarm the playfield. By planting timed bombs you can blast soft blocks, uncover power‑ups and eventually clear all enemies, which unlocks the gate to the next area. The power‑ups range from extra bombs and longer blast radius to speed boosts, remote‑detonation controls and even items that let you pass through blocks. Some zones throw in conveyor belts and other traps, and a boss appears after each zone, demanding a fresh strategy. The difficulty ramps up steadily, introducing new obstacles and tougher foes.

The arcade cabinet offers two distinct ways to play. In the campaign you and a partner can cooperate to clear screens, hatch eggs that spawn rideable birds and rescue fellow Bombermen who then assist you. The versus mode pits up to four opponents—human or AI—against each other in five‑match rounds, with ten selectable characters and four arenas to choose from. Winning five matches secures the round, and a second player joining instantly switches the game to a one‑on‑one battle. Power‑ups discovered by blowing up blocks work the same way in battle, keeping the classic Bomberman chaos alive.

Storyline

Neo Bomberman centers on a grand Bomberman Tournament where the iconic White Bomber and his rival Black Bomber, together with a host of other fighters, have gathered to compete. The peace is shattered when the mad scientist Professor Bagura arrives in his mobile fortress, crashes the event and locks the participants in cages. Determined to free their friends, White and Black Bomber team up with the newly‑created Atomic Bomber, a weapon under Bagura’s control. The trio sets out to infiltrate the fortress, rescue the captives and put an end to Bagura’s scheme.
