Summary

Monster Maulers (known in Japan as Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn) pits the international trio of Kotetsu, Anne, and Eagle against a parade of over‑the‑top beasts. The Happy Droppers, a goofy villain crew, unleash monsters ranging from a color‑shifting dragon in a Norwegian cave to a plant‑like spider in the Brazilian rainforest. Each monster stage draws inspiration from other Konami franchises, such as the Gradius‑style Dragon and the squid‑eyed Brainy, while the boss roster includes a Chinese storm demon, a sentient Moai statue, and the pink‑hued Cosmic Tank piloted by the scheming leader Happy.

Co‑op play isn’t just a simple tag‑team; partners can trigger hidden special attacks by syncing their moves. The character set covers a balanced Japanese fighter, a speed‑focused English martial artist, and an American power‑type pro‑wrestler, giving players clear styles to match the chaos. Though the arcade saw modest success in Japanese machine charts, the game's quirky monster designs and Konami cross‑references have made it a cult favorite among collectors today.

Storyline

Monster Maulers (sometimes just called Monster Maulers) follows three members of the Ultimate Task Force—Kotetsu, Anne and Eagle—who are called in when a bizarre group of villains known as the Happy Droppers unleash a wave of monsters across the globe.

The trio travels from country to country, battling the creatures and trying to stop the Happy Droppers’ plan. The game offers two possible conclusions: in the good ending the villains are captured, while the bad ending shows them slipping away.
