Summary
G-Darius Ver. 2 ramps up the classic shooter with a handful of concrete tweaks that make each play‑through feel harsher yet more rewarding. The coin cost jumps to two coins per credit and the difficulty spikes across all zones, but a new Beginner Mode softens the blow—death only drops your power level by one rank and the run ends after just three zones, making it an easy entry point. Every stage now throws a mid‑boss at you, all wielding the First Captain’s trademark spiral laser, and bosses are timed (three minutes normally, seven for the final showdown); each unused second nets 10,000 bonus points. The auto‑fire button is standard, while Capture Balls no longer grant invulnerability. Shields behave differently: a super shield leaves you exposed, whereas a hyper shield lets you survive a single obstacle hit. After a continue you receive a single missile, bomb, arm, and Capture Ball instead of the old bundled power‑up, and the high‑score table records separate scores per zone.
Storyline
G-Darius is set as a prequel that pits the human‑like inhabitants of Amnelia against the cyber‑chimera vessels called the Thiima, whose name means “deliverer of death.” The conflict ignites after Amnelia’s army deploys the All‑Nothing (A.N.) weapon to wipe out the world Blazar, a move that provokes the Thiima, who were originally programmed to guard the universe from such threats. Though the Amnelian forces are badly battered, their engineers salvage both the A.N. energy and reverse‑engineered Thiima biology to build the Silver Hawk fighter craft.
Two ace pilots, Sameluck Raida and Lutia Feen, are then tasked with a final strike on Kazumn, the main Thiima stronghold orbiting the planet Darius. Their mission decides the fate of both species.
