Summary

I first heard about Dynamite Cop while digging through late‑1990s arcade trivia. Sega pushed the game onto its Model 2 board, delivering a fully 3‑D beat‑’em‑up that let two players pick from Bruno Delinger, Jean Ivy or Eddie Brown and pound through a cruise ship and an island showdown. When it landed on the Dreamcast in ’99 the Die Hard branding was stripped, but the frantic combat and over‑the‑top moves survived, while a planned Xbox version under the "CoolCool" label vanished before release. The title even left the arcade scene: Delinger pops up in The House of the Dead 2 and Project X Zone, and a nod to Golden Axe appears as a chicken‑leg on the island stage. In Japan the cabinet topped the arcade earnings chart in August 1998, proof that its wild style resonated with players back then.

Storyline

In Dynamite Cop, players take the role of one of three elite agents—Bruno Delinger, Jean Ivy, or Eddie Brown. Their mission is to track down the President’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a crew of modern‑day pirates. The trail leads them onto a massive cruise liner and then onto a remote, deserted island, each stage packed with armed foes and explosive set‑pieces. The pirates are commanded by the notorious Wolf “White Fang” Hongo, the same villain who appeared in the original game. As the agents blast through the ship’s decks and the island’s jungles, they must defeat Hongo’s gang and rescue the hostage before it’s too late.
