Summary
Dan‑Ku‑Ga, the cancelled upgrade to Taito’s obscure fighting title Kaiser Knuckle, was slated for a December 1994 launch in Japan but vanished after a brief location test. The prototype later surfaced on the internet and finally arrived legit‑in‑hand as part of the Egret II Mini collection in 2022. While the core roster stays the same, the overhaul gives the two original bosses—Gonzales and Azteca—full player control, adds a back‑dash for every fighter, and spruces each character with a third costume hue. Difficulty is now a pre‑game choice (Normal, Professional or Training), and the order of opponents shifts: Gonzales becomes the fifth fight, Azteca the ninth, and a mirrored doppelgänger appears as the final challenger. Even the third boss, General, can be faced without mysterious unlock requirements, and several two‑button combos were streamlined to single‑button actions plus joystick direction, making the whole experience feel markedly tighter than its predecessor.
