Every few rounds the game pauses for a bonus stage that recreates the original redemption cabinet, tasking players with defending cargo containers from alien capture. The 32nd stage culminates in a showdown with Don Cosmo, the series’ final boss. In Japan the arcade proved a hit, earning Gamest’s Best Shooting and Hit Game honors and ranking as the sixth most successful table arcade unit in April 1992.

Storyline

Cosmo Gang the Video puts you in the cockpit of a Hyper Beat starship tasked with clearing the galaxy of the mischievous alien race known as the Cosmo Gang, who have been causing trouble across Earth. Across 32 stages you face wave after wave of alien formations, dive attacks and occasional special enemies, culminating in a showdown with Don Cosmo, the final boss, in the last stage. Bonus rounds break up the action: you must prevent the aliens from latching onto cargo containers and pulling them off‑screen, earning points for each container you manage to save.
