Summary

Bubble Symphony, often called Bubble Bobble II in Europe, picks up where Parasol Stars left off and keeps the classic bubble‑blowing formula alive. You still play as the dragon‑like Bub and Bob, but now you can choose from four characters, each with a distinct bubble pattern when you charge the shot. Holding the bubble button until the horns flash lets you unleash three bubbles at once, perfect for trapping the giant enemies that pop up on certain stages.

The game offers 80 levels, with a boss every five to ten stages and a branching path after each boss via two doors. The final ten stages are hidden behind a collection quest: gather seven potions (or rods) to transform back into human form and unlock the true ending. Square cards with music notes also appear, forming four keys that open the last world and prevent a false finish.

Fans love the extra flair: cameo enemies from other Taito titles, multiple endings that reward skill and secret hunting, and an acclaimed soundtrack that even saw a CD release (catalog PCCB0176). All of this makes Bubble Symphony a nostalgic yet fresh ride for anyone who’s ever chased bubbles in an arcade.

Storyline

In Bubble Symphony, the adventure begins with the familiar green and blue bubble dragons, Bubblun and Bobblun, now accompanied by two new sisters: amber‑scaled Kululun and pink‑scaled Cororon. All four are revealed to be the children of the original Bub and Bob from the classic Bubble Bobble.

The story’s opening shows the quartet as ordinary humans reading books when they unintentionally release the mischievous Hyper Drunk. The villain transforms them into bubble dragons and banishes them to a strange new world, setting the stage for their quest to defeat him and restore their true forms.
