Summary

Bloody Roar 2 (often just called Bloody Roar 2) kept the series’ wild appeal alive by adding eleven fighters, seven of them brand‑new. Each fighter could shift into a zoanthrope beast—turning a cat, tiger, bat or even a mole into a faster, tougher attacker that also recovers a bit of health. The sequel introduced “Beast Drives,” flashy super moves that trigger cut‑scenes and pack serious damage, giving each character a signature finishing flair. After lighting up arcades in the late ’90s, the game landed on the PlayStation a year later and has resurfaced on PS3, PS Vita and PSP via the PlayStation Network as recently as 2021. In the U.S., it’s remembered as Bloody Roar II: The New Breed, while European and Japanese fans know it as Bringer of the New Age. The mix of wild transformations and aggressive brawling still makes it a nostalgic highlight for anyone who loves retro fighting games.

Storyline

Bloody Roar 2 (Arcade) picks up five years after the events of the first game, when the zoanthropes who fought the fallen Tyron Corporation have returned to ordinary, peaceful lives. Their secret is suddenly exposed to the world, sparking a rapid rise in hostility between humans and zoanthropes. This tension gives birth to the extremist group Zoanthrope Liberation Front (ZLF), which demands zoanthrope supremacy and threatens both humans and non‑member zoanthropes.

At the same time, Alan Gado, a well‑known advocate for human‑zoanthrope understanding, becomes a fugitive for unclear reasons. Rebel zoanthropes are drawn into a clash against the ZLF and Gado, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. The supposed ZLF leader, Shenlong, is revealed to be a puppet controlled by Hajime Busuzima, who pretends to be the group’s right‑hand man. After Busuzima escapes, the rebels defeat Shenlong and dismantle the ZLF.

With the organization shattered, Gado—who fled only to avoid unwanted attention—tasks the surviving rebels with forming a movement aimed at lasting peace and reconciliation between humans and zoanthropes.
