Summary

Armored Warriors (known as Powered Gear in Japan) lets you pilot huge “Variant Armor” mechs in a classic beat‑em‑up setting. Up to two players can join forces, swapping out arms, legs and handheld weapons on the fly—damage to enemies sometimes drops extra parts that you can equip for fresh attack patterns. The game adds a “Team‑up Change” command, letting partners trigger a simultaneous special move that clears the screen. Each of the seven stages imposes its own limits, be it a tight timer, ammo cap or a quota of foes, and finishes with a distinct boss, encouraging players to experiment with different load‑outs for replay value. After its arcade run, the same customizable robots re‑appeared in Capcom’s later fighter Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, and the title even ranked sixth among Japan’s table‑type machines in December 1994.

Storyline

In Armored Warriors (Arcade), the year is 2281 when the United Earth Government finally signs a cease‑fire with the Principalities of Raia, ending a fifty‑year war. A year after the treaty, the UEG’s 18th scouting party reports that the Raian capital, Melkide, has fallen to an army of unknown origin. The United Earth Government mobilizes a force to retake the city and rescue its citizens. Publicly this mission is framed as a humanitarian rescue, but behind the scenes the true objective is to crush the mysterious invaders and bring Raia under Earth’s control. The game’s plot follows the player’s armored mech as it battles through the occupied capital to uncover the hidden enemy and fulfill the secret agenda.
