Summary

Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh, the arcade follow‑up to the original brick‑breaker, keeps the familiar paddle action while adding layers that still feel fresh today. After clearing a stage, two "Warp Gates" pop up at the bottom; stepping through either gate determines which version of the next level you’ll face, giving each run a subtle branching path. The fire button only lights up when you snag the Laser Cannon or Catch power‑ups, turning those rare pills into real strategic choices.

The board itself evolves beyond static bricks. Notched silver bricks need several hits and then briefly regenerate, though you can ignore them to finish a level. Other blocks slide left‑right unless blocked, turning the playfield into a moving puzzle. A massive brain mini‑boss shows up on round 17, offering a quirky test before the final showdown with the vengeance‑seeking DOH.

American cabinets even remix the opening stage, inserting a line of regenerating bricks and mobile colored blocks for an extra bite of difficulty. Home versions added a level editor, letting players craft their own challenges—except for the brain mini‑boss and DOH battles, which remain untouchable.

Storyline

Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh pits the player against the mysterious enemy DOH, who returns to exact revenge on the Vaus space vessel. You once again pilot the iconic Vaus paddle, navigating a series of brick‑breaking challenges.

The game offers 34 rounds drawn from a pool of 64 possible stages, each demanding precise timing and strategy. Notably, round 17 features a giant brain mini‑boss that tests reflexes before the final showdown.

The climax pits the player against DOH in two distinct forms: first a statue‑like incarnation, then a tentacled creature that regenerates whenever it’s hit. Defeating both ends DOH’s vengeance once and for all.
