Summary

In 64th Street: A Detective Story you pick one of two gumshoe heroes—Rick or Allen—and each comes with his own martial‑arts flair. The beat‑'em‑up action lets you trash every crook that stands in your way, hurling foes into the far‑off backdrop to snag hidden goodies and smash destructible scenery. The streets feel like a 1990s arcade playground: the opponents rock everything from bright 80s hip‑hop gear to goofy pirate costumes, and the boss fights are peppered with off‑beat, screen‑shaking special attacks. With a two‑player couch‑co‑op option, the game thrives on frantic combos and the satisfying pop of a broken object revealing a power‑up. It's pure retro chaos that rewards both brawling prowess and a curiosity for what weird enemy designs hide around each corner.

Storyline

64th Street: A Detective Story opens on a gritty, Double‑Dragon‑style street where private‑eye Rick Anderson, a calm 35‑year‑old manager, teams up with his 19‑year‑old trainee Allen Tombs, a hot‑tempered reformed delinquent.
An evil corporation called the Legacy organization kidnaps the daughter of a wealthy middle‑aged businessman and leaves a cryptic letter demanding his silence.
Exhausted, the father bursts into Rick and Allen’s office late at night, pleading for help and handing over the ransom note.
The next day Allen spots a classified ad that mirrors the letter’s phrasing; together they realize both are written in a secret crime‑lord code.
Decoding the message sends them on a chase to the Legacy headquarters, where the setting shifts to steampunk madness and culminates in a showdown aboard a massive blimp.
